Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management

Interested in starting your own business or in managing a small business in a variety of business sectors including wholesale, manufacturing, healthcare, food service and governmental agencies? The Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management certificate is for you!

This certificate gives you an introduction to business organization and operations, and provides the knowledge and insight necessary to develop strong management skills, a necessity for advancement to supervisory positions in a small business.

Students pursuing this certificate are permitted six semester hours of directed electives. This level of flexibility allows you to select courses specific to your individual strengths, interests and goals.

Admission requirements

Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management is an open-enrollment program, meaning there isn't any criteria students must meet to be admitted. If you're interested in enrolling in this program, complete our steps to enroll, which includes completing the free application for admission.

We encourage all prospective students to visit campus. We have several Explore Sandburg open houses throughout the year, or you can schedule a campus visit at your convenience.

Program format 

The Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management program offers both online and face-to-face class options; however, the program can not be done entirely online.

Class formats

Sandburg offers courses in a variety of formats to best fit the needs of our students. To determine the formats for specific courses, please refer to our course schedule.

Regardless of the course format, it is highly recommended that students have access to a reliable computer with broadband internet. All courses use online resources and require students to access course information through mySandburg. Accessing courses through a phone is discouraged. Both campuses have open computer labs for student use.

Thanks to our generous donors, the   Carl Sandburg College Foundation  is able to award more than $100,000 each year in scholarship dollars to Sandburg students. Business & Accounting Society of Sandburg (BASS) - CURRENTLY INACTIVE

The mission of BASS is to provide a real-world experience outside of the classroom through various exposures to different styles of business and accounting procedures to current students and disseminate business and accounting information throughout Sandburg. Membership is open to all full- and part-time students currently enrolled at Sandburg.
